Lenscratch 2013 Portrait Exhibition

Verity Mackintosh, Costume Adjustments, Taipei, Taiwanf
I've chosen to write about this image because it is successful on a number of different levels. The lighting is absolutely gorgeous; the backlight with the faded out edges really brings your attention to the subject. The light also does a really great job of hitting all the jewelry that the young woman is wearing and it creates wonderful texture that jumps off the page. I also like the tones that were used to create this. It has more of a warmer feeling than just a harsh black and white and even though there are so many shades of gray, they don't seem to get lost in each other. As for the subject itself, i believe that it has a lot of emotion and it looks really authentic. I like how the girl is not looking at the camera and the position doesn't look too forced (I think the cropping helped achieve this as well).

Album Cover

Final Edit.  Artist-The Marshall Tucker Band.  Song-Can't You See.  I chose to edit the photo this way because the song written during the 70's and I wanted to give the album an old time 70's feel. To create this look I changed the colors around to give it a more faded look.
